TREASURE
Closed project
Training REsearch and Applications networks to Support the Ultimate Real time high accuracy EGNSS solution *
The objective of the TREASURE project is to offer specialized training to 13 doctoral students in the strategic and emerging field of European GNSS.
Geolocalisation and Navigation via a Satellite System
It aims to develop multidisciplinary research to maximize the enormous potential for the promotion and exploitation of GNSS technology. This innovative multidisciplinary training contributes to strengthening the global positioning of Galileo, European GNSS (EGNSS), which must be fully operational by 2020. TBS will supervise one doctorate student in the field of strategic marketing in partnership with the regional firm NOVELTIS. The duration of the project is from September 2017 to August 2020.
Challenges, results and impact of the TREASURE Project
Strategic analysis of the European GNSS market.
Interview with Victor DOS SANTOS PAULINO and Jean-Marc DECAUDIN
What is the subject of your research?
This research aims to better understand the dissemination of innovations in the space sector and, more particulary, innovations using space navigation systems (e.g. GPS, Galileo). The theoretical approaches we use stem from strategic management and marketing techniques.
What are the main results of your research so far?
This research shows that despite intentions to consider both technological and market opportunities, partnerships that develop innovative projects are primarily guided by a “technology push” strategy. This bias generates problems for the successful dissemination of innovations to customers.
This research explores the hypothesis that selling innovative services incorporating new technologies is more conducive to the adoption of innovations than selling the new technologies alone. This hypothesis is validated theoretically and empirically.
How does the funding support your research?
The funding obtained from the European Union for a period of 3 years made it possible to co-finance the full-time salary of a doctoral student, Paola TESTA, and her travel expenses. In particular, the doctoral student was able to spend extended periods of time in several European organisations for case studies. Without this funding and the support of NOVELTIS, this research would not have taken place.
