The challenge is on! From 25 to 26 March, 2021, students of the MSc Big Data, Marketing & Management face their fellow students of the MSc Artificial Intelligence & Business Analytics for the 3rd edition of the TBS Datathon. They will develop, in record time, a predictive algorithm for online advertising for our partner, Criteo, with the help of their professors and experts from both Criteo and Dataiku.

The mission: predict the budget of online advertising campaigns

For the 2021 edition of the Datathon, online advertising giant Criteo defies the students of our Masters of Science in Artificial Intelligence & Business Analytics and Big Data, Marketing & Management. They will compete to develop, in 48 hours, an algorithm that can predict the budget of an online advertisement. The challenge is designed to test their knowledge of artificial intelligence and demonstrate their skills in front of potential recruiters. Students will receive a huge amount of data for anonymous advertisers for the period of January 2018 to September 2020. The challenge is to predict the daily customer budget for the 4th quarter of 2020.

Partnerships with 2 French Tech flagships

Every year, the Datathon broadens the horizons of our students by connecting them with renowned companies from the world of artificial intelligence, which present them with a real-life business challenge. This year, our partners are two French Tech flagships: Critéo and Dataiku.

A former French unicorn, Dataiku already has more than 500 employees. The company’s headquarters are located in New York, with offices in Paris, London, Singapore, Sydney and Frankfurt.

The 3-in-1 Datathon: 3 challenges, 3 rewards

TBS professors Kevin Carillo et Serge Nyawa will collaborate with the experts of our 2 flagship partners to help the students:

  • Apply their knowledge in Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Data Science
  • Use a machine learning tool (Dataiku DSS)
  • Manage the pressure of a time-limited project (48 hours)
  • Foster team spirit and cohesion

The Datathon thoroughly tests students’ resilience and provides 3 key challenges that open the door to 3 rewards. Students will be competing for:

  • Best Presentation : quality of the pitch and presentation to the group
  • Best Model : technical quality of the group’s algorithm
  • A.I. Master Challenge : general quality of the work, resilience and reactivity of the class group. The A.I. Master Challenge is this year’s novelty and offers a newly created award in collaboration with Dataiku.
